It gives me great pleasure to announce that Marty Peak Helman has been selected to be a member of the Rotary Foundation Board of Trustees, effective July 1, 2022. This means that Marty, a member of the Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club, will serve on the 16-person Board that manages the business of The Rotary Foundation, which is the charitable arm of our organization that funds service activities globally. The RI president-elect nominates the Trustees, who are elected by the RI Board of Directors to four-year terms.

Marty and her husband Frank Helman joined the Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club 18 years ago.  She served as club President in 2006-07, and as District 7780 Governor in 2012-13.  In the past few years she has been heavily involved in preparing Rotary’s incoming District Governors for their roles through her work as an International Training Leader and as Zone 24/32 General Trainer.

Marty’s Rotary passion is the Rotary Peace Centers, and she has served for six years on The Rotary Foundation’s Peace-Major Gift Initiative, culminating in her term as chair in 2019-20.
Back here in D-7780, she has continued to serve in numerous positions including District Foundation Chair and Growth Chair. She is also a frequent speaker at District, PETS and club events on Foundation and Growth topics.

D-7780 Rotarians who have previously served as Trustee are Mike McGovern from South-Portland Cape Elizabeth and Brenda Cressey from the Ogunquit Club, both of whom went on to be Vice-Chair of the Trustees.  Brenda also served as Chair of the Board of Trustees.
