CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HONORS RICK HAGEN
 
 
Rick Hagen, President of Rotary of Damariscotta-Newcastle Maine 2017-18, was honored by the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce at their annual dinner.  Rick and his wife Lisa Sproul Hagen have dedicated countless hours to our communities, including Light up the Villages, Rotary, Chamber, Twin Village Business Forum, Rotary/Lions Golf Tournament and Auction, Damariscotta Pumpkinfest and Regatta, etc.  Thanks to Rick and Lisa for enriching our lives and adding fun to everything!
 
 
 
 
 
 
MOBILITY DEVICE COLLECTION A SUCCESS
 
 
Once again our collection of mobility devices garnered 124 sets or 248 individuals, 25 Walkers, 45 Walking Canes, New Orthopedic Medical Supplies: 10 boxes of unused/new cam walkers, wrist splints, shoulder immobilizers, casting material, knee braces, etc. as well as a few miscellaneous items: foot boot, leg and knee braces. Plus one happy lady from Woolwich who picked a new wheel chair courtesy of PE Jane Gravel.
 
ROTARIAN HONORED WITH SERVICE ABOVE SELF AWARD
 
 
President Rick Hagen presented a Service Above Self award to Tom Blackford for his hard work and dedication to Rotary and our club.  Tom was the Club Service Chair recruiting weekly workers to make our meetings run smoothly.  He is the former headmaster at The Deck School, Edgecombe, and with his wife Susie Stephenson, a fiber artist, is emigrating to Canada.  They will be missed.
 
 
STEP-UP BOOTS AWARDED TO PAST PRESIDENT BOB TOPPER
 
 
At their annual change-of-officers dinner, the Damariscotta-Newcastle Club awarded the coveted Step-Up Boots to Past President Bob Topper.  Bob lead the club in creating the Twin Village Business Forum, including securing a District 7780 grant.  This event created so much buzz and momentum that a second business forum is happening September 28, 2018.
