March is Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Month for Rotary International.  Rotary supports training, education, and infrastructure projects related to this Area of Focus. Through these initiatives, waterborne diseases decrease, people stay healthier, children attend school more regularly, and women are freed from carrying water so they live more engaged lives.

And it’s WASH Month in District 7430. Let’s ask how we can help eliminate preventable diseases through hygiene and sanitary facilities. How can we create healthier communities to promote children’s education? How can we undertake WASH projects to promote healthy economies around the world?

Our Project Showcase features President Al Ottinger of the Fleetwood Rotary Club and Liz Herman of the Quakertown Rotary Club. Al describes a multi-club project to provide potable water in the Dominican Republic. Liz tells us about her Club’s powder room project at Hope House.

Our Showcase Tuesday features two directors of the WASH Rotary Action Group. Neil Van Dine inspires us with his life’s work on the Haitian National Water and Sanitation Initiative. Mary Beth Growney Selene tells us about Menstrual Health Management and its impact on Girl Empowerment, President Shekhar Mehta’s call to action.

District Rotarians are planning projects, and service and fellowship activities. Our Presidents-Elect enjoyed training and fellowship at MAPETS. We raised money for the Foundation and had a great time at the Foundation Gala. Many of us will help Ukrainian citizens by contributing to the Foundation Disaster Fund before April 30, 2022, and filing grant applications by June 30, 2022.

Come to our District Training Assembly on April 9, 2022. Join in our Public Image Challenge. Make sure your Club submits a District grant application before April 1. Register now for the District Conference where world-class speakers will inspire you to be your best self through Rotary. Join us for the STEM YEA fundraiser on April 30, 2022. Consider how your Club will grow membership and serve the environment in our Rotary Day of Service on April 30, 2022.

Our Clubs are growing membership, service and giving.  Keep up the good work!
