Rotarians for Mental Health Launch New Website

R4MH.org highlights clubs’ mental health projects and encourages additional clubs to get involved.

“We are an advocacy coalition of District 5450 clubs, now numbering 14,” said Bill Farrow, one of four co-chairs. “R4MH is a resource for clubs concerned with mental health and substance use disorders and wanting to make a difference in their communities. One thing we advocate is club participation in projects that educate about mental health, serve people with mental health illnesses, reduce the stigma, and promote access to help.”

The website is a cafeteria of successful projects that can be adapted by clubs or can inspire new action. We share the names and contact information of Rotarians involved in these projects who are willing to offer advice and resource help.
There is also information about mental health awards that provide recognition in addition to funding for future projects. Congratulations to this year’s winners: Summit County Rotary (Hayes Family Foundation Mental Health Award) and Boulder Rotary (R4MH Award).

The website was developed and is hosted pro bono by Brighter Vision, a website and marketing company that our Co-Chair Patty Burnett has used in her psychotherapy practice for many years. Founder and CEO Perry Rosenbloom offered his company’s help as a community service.

“The Brighter Vision Team was fantastic in helping us adapt a template for therapists to our needs. I have loved working with them on my own site and R4MH, because the staff is so helpful and patient with my non-techie self,” said Patty.

If there therapists out there in Rotary land who are looking for website help, Brighter Vision is offering a free month. Follow this link: http://www.brightervision.com/try/rotary/. Technical support is free and unlimited. You can also email Patty at paburnett@aol.com.

“In District 5450 we are asking clubs that are working in the mental health field to share with us your stories and your photos,” said Farrow. “We want to recognize you. We also hope to further develop the how-to aspects of projects, making it easier for clubs to jump in, with no reinvent-the-wheel involved.” Please send your news and updates to Patty, paburnett@aol.com.

The main project of Rotarians for Mental Health is the symposium of presentations on mental health topics run in conjunction with the State of the State event hosted by Denver Southeast Rotary and the District.
