Points Match Announced

As I reported during the Mid Year Presidents meeting, our Rotarians are being very generous this year. We are now nearly sixty percent through the Rotary year. DGE Kevin O’Connell has just returned from International Assembly and heard the inspiring presentation of RIPE Ravi Ravindran of next year’s Rotary Theme, “Be a Friend to the World”!

I have been honored to attend two club meetings to recognize incredible generosity and a third visit is needed. Three significant contributions have been made, two to the Endowment Fund of the Rotary Foundation and another to the Polio Plus fund. Individual donations from our Rotarians to the Polio Plus Fund are already beyond the goal our clubs set for the year and will likely reach over $100,000. Our Annual Fund donations are also moving forward very well and we may even reach the goal I set for our District, $550,000. To date we are at $276,896.46.

At the Mid Year Presidents Meeting I announced a Points Match that I hope will help us reach this goal. Rotarians who make a donation to the Annual Fund, the Polio Plus Fund or a numbered Global Grant accumulate points. Rotary clubs accumulate points as well when contributing funds to a Global grant. These points can be transferred to another Rotarian, but ONLY once. The minimum points transfer is 100 and the maximum 500. My challenge; every Rotarian should donate to the Foundation Annual Fund SHARE this year. A donation that meets the minimum required ($100) up the $500 will receive an equal number of points.  An example of what this might accomplish: a Rotarian, $400 short of the first Paul Harris Fellowship or the next level, donates $200 and receives a match of 200 points.  He/She is now a New Paul Harris Fellow or has reached the next level.

The district will help identify and facilitate the transfer of points but the District does NOT have points, Clubs and Rotarians do. Clubs are encouraged to use their points and points of their members to match donations by others within you club. If needed, the District will help make the connection to another club or Rotarian for the transfer.  The deadline for the points challenge is June 15, 2015!
