Every year our Rotarians are encouraged to donate to the Foundation SHARE program so that in three years, money is available to match our club’s grant proposals, district and global. But each year some grants go unfunded because of inadequate SHARE funds donated. LET’S HELP SOLVE THIS PROBLEM!
Every year our Rotarians are encouraged to donate to the Foundation SHARE program so that in three years, money is available to match our club’s grant proposals, district and global. But each year some grants go unfunded because of inadequate SHARE funds donated. LET’S HELP SOLVE THIS PROBLEM!
Last year we had a Paul Harris Society Challenge which resulted in 178 Paul Harris Society charter members, Rotarians who pledge to donate at least $1,000 every year to the Annual Fund as long as possible. That has resulted in a base for our yearly Annual Fund contributions. This year we are encouraging EVERY Rotarian to donate to the annual fund and are using a points match to promote that effort.
A Million Dollar Dinner is a means of raising money for the Rotary Foundation’s Permanent Fund (endowment). Such contributions may be made in many ways: Cash contribution, Codicil in your Will, Life Insurance Policy, Appreciated Stock Transfer, IRA fund transfer etc. Interest earned from the corpus of the endowment may be assigned to many areas (world fund, peace scholars, polio fund, SHARE).
District 5450 has a balance in the Rotary Foundation’s Endowment Fund of 1.994 Million Dollars: 575 Hundred Thousand assigned to the Peace scholar program, 894 hundred thousand benefiting the World Fund and 524 hundred thousand assigned to SHARE. This year, nearly $10 thousand additional was available to match our club’s grants from the interest on endowed funds assigned to SHARE!
Our goal is to raise 2,2 Million Dollars in pledges with interest assigned to SHARE for this Million Dollar Dinner. While we are asking that interest be assigned to SHARE, this is NOT a requirement. When pledges are realized, our district will experience a significant yearly influx of matching money, which will augment our annual district designated fund from monies donated three year before.
Please join us in making a pledge to the Rotary Foundation Endowment so that we may insure continued success in matching grant applications of our clubs. Your children don’t really need this money. Your LEGACY, helping people all over the world, forever! A celebration of our success is scheduled for July 18, 2015!
