Dear Fellow Rotarians,

June marks the wrapping up of the current Club President’s year long dedication and hard work, especially during the time that the whole world was standing still while wading through COVID-19’s uncertain and terrifying challenges!  Kudos to all our 61 Club Presidents and leadership teams for being adaptable, flexible, creative, and persistent in all fronts of Rotary Service: Service to the communities, service across continents, service to frontline workers, and service to our members!
Let us take a breath, step back, and be determined to keeping our friends in Rotary – friends that may have dropped off Rotary due to COVID-19, both financially as well as emotionally. Our District is dedicated to the needs of our Clubs and our membership – through the Goodwill COVID Assistance Program, we hope all Clubs will keep our friends in Rotary, providing the much needed 6- month breathing room to re-engage and re-energize Rotary among members who have temporarily stepped away. As we are ready to emerge from the shadows of COVID-19, Clubs will be able to host either hybrid or alternate in-person and ZOOM meetings, providing in-person fellowship activities and hands-on service projects that galvanize Rotary fellowship and the spirit of Service Above Self. Let us take care of our own members, extend their Rotary membership with goodwill through 2021, thus creating opportunities to ignite Rotary joy and happiness within all members!

June also brings the excitement of a new Club President’s enthusiasm in carrying the torch of successes toward achieving higher goals – membership growth, public image built up, and contributions to the Rotary Foundation. District 5170 Rotary Clubs are never winding down! June is for reflection of successes and identifying the next goals. Don’t forget to make your members proud by sharing the many service projects championed by your Club through COVID-19, as well as the numerous world-community Global Grant projects made possible by dedicated and passionate fellow Rotarians in saving lives across continents. Rotary truly connects the world, opens opportunities, and Rotarians always serve to change lives through good and bad times.

As a Rotarian, we are privileged to enjoy happiness in giving back to our communities through Rotary partnership and fellowship. With every privilege comes an obligation – every Rotarian is obligated to bringing people into Rotary and providing them the opportunity to enjoy happiness through service. Make a commitment to be a Sponsor in Rotary Year 2021-22! Every Club will double its Rotary impact if every member becomes a Sponsor!

Why grow Club membership? Grow membership is not about growing a number. It is about Growing Rotary Impact with more talents, more resources, more volunteers, thus more service projects!

Where do we find potential members? Every service project as well as every fellowship activity attracts new members – Make it a habit to invite non-Rotarians to join service projects and fellowship activities. Membership attraction happens with deliberate planning and action – invite family, friends, neighbors, and community members to join Club projects and events, and don’t forget to follow up with the “ASK” – Have you ever thought of Rotary? Invite them to Club meetings followed by offering to sponsor them into Rotary.

Paul Harris once said – If Rotary is to realize its proper destiny, it must be evolutionary at all times, revolution on occasion. NOW is the time to be revolutionary in opening opportunities for people to join Rotary post COVID-19.

Together, Rotary is stronger than COVID!
Together, we will grow Rotary impact within District 5170!

Best regards,
