Friends,

I write to thank you all – and to ask you to pass on to all members – our sincere thanks for the outstanding support of World Polio Day throughout New Zealand and Australia yesterday. There was a more enthusiastic approach from everyone this year – towards fund raising and having fun with promotional events involving the public. Our senior leaders were a little concerned 18 months ago that there may have been a sense of apathy creeping into our END POLIO NOW campaign. We did recover strongly to make all goals for the year but that underlying thought has remained a concern. However, the prevailing enthusiasm in 2020/21 is a tribute to all of the current District Governors and District officials.  I have been very impressed to note the new ideas and early fund raising success this Rotary year.

Attached are a couple of colourful examples of World Polio Day fun in the Sydney area … first a pic of the crowd greeting ‘ride the train for Polio’ officials at Emu Plains Station on Friday morning and, secondly, the colourful flag raising ceremony at Glenbrook Park which attracted plenty of public attention on Saturday

Warm Best wishes,

Bob
