THANK YOU: Thornleigh Office – PDG Tony Castley
We have now relocated all district resources out of what has been their home for many years. We cannot thank PDG Tony Castley enough for providing affordable accommodation at the Thornleigh site which has seen much enjoyment by many in D9685 committees of all sorts, the selection of many District Governors, the learning of many through the RLI, and many heated committee debates. Thank you, Tony, from everyone in the District.
THANK YOU: Mentor support
I could not have survived my year without the wise and patient advice of my two mentors – PDG Harold Sharp and PDG David Rands. As my year comes to a close, I realise how many times they have steered me in the right direction and ensured that my decisions and actions are appropriate. Thank you both for your input and guidance!!
FAREWELL: Sir CLEM REOUF 1921-2020
Without the visionary leadership of Clem Renouf as the president of Rotary International (1978-79), we would not be talking about the possibility of global polio eradication today. Sir Clem – Foundation Member of the Rotary Club of Nambour, Queensland – led the international campaign to vaccinate every child against polio. He is a sad loss to the Rotary family.
DISTRICT CHANGEOVER
Yes, I know that you are all clamouring for details of our end of year event, and with each passing announcement by the Federal and State health authorities, we feel more confident that July offers the prospect for an official handover from Rotary Connects the World the Rotary Opens Opportunities!!
We may not get the opportunity to give you much notice, and we are not sure what capacity any venue may be able to offer us, however we are hopeful that a date in July will see the party event of the year. So please keep your diaries handy!!
FAREWELL: RC Lindfield and RC Thornleigh
We close the year saying Goodbye to two of our oldest clubs - Lindfield and Thornleigh, with members going to other surrounding clubs to continue their great work. Lindfield has just achieved its 50yr status, and has not had the chance to celebrate that great milestone.
There are also merger discussions underway for Dee Why Warringah and Frenchs Forest, and with Chatswood and Roseville Chase, and we wish all those members a wonderful and exciting future with your new identity and project mix!!
Thank you to all these clubs for looking to their futures to ensure that Rotary remains alive and well in your communities and that all your club projects will continue successfully into the future.
FAREWELL FROM ME
Thank you all for your support over the last 12 months. We have all experienced some extraordinary times, and have learned just how adaptable and innovative we are in the face of some amazing situations. Thank you to the many volunteers and supporters of the projects that have kept our farmers going, and helped to rejuvenate our bushfire devastated regions.
Thank you for the support you have provided to my designated projects. If you are still supporting the national Purple House project, it is RAWCS project 81-20190-20 for bank transfers.
I wish DGE Dave Clark and his team and fabulous year ahead – an exciting time as we all learn to eat together, laugh together, hug together and Open Opportunities!!
