All District Governor’s official visits have now been completed with my attending both of the Rotaract Clubs. Peninsular on 16th May and Casey-Cardinia on 17th.
Both clubs are thriving and while having slightly different characters, just as Rotary Clubs do, both clubs are enthusiastic about the potential of an extension into the Latrobe Valley and perhaps East Gippsland.
Rotaractor Ben Hill from Casey-Cardinia has been appointed as District Rotaract Representative for the coming year to fill the very large shoes of Robert Cook who has represented Rotaract on the District Leadership team in an exemplary manner and will now be going on to serve as National Rotaract
treasurer in the coming year.

One could not have asked for a more successful MUNA with 35 teams of two students drawn from schools across the District, under the Secretary Generalship of PDG Denis debating from the perspective of their assigned country, topics as varied as nuclear North Vietnam, violence against women to global climate change.
Rotarian John Caruana and his extraordinary team should be proud of their great service to Rotary and to the young people of the district
RLI training has again been undertaken by an enthusiastic group of Rotarians, new and old, over three days at Nossal High School under the expert tutelage of PP David Hanlon and his team.
Additional RLI Trainer accreditation has also been completed, led by PDG Cathy Roth District 9780 and PDG John Wigley District 9800 with seven new trainers being accredited.
Hosted by the Rotary Club of Endeavour Hills and with PDG Lynne providing a very effective Chair a most successful Disaster Aid Conference was conducted at the Dandenong Club over the weekend of 5th and 6th May. Delegates attended from Rotary Districts across Australia and overseas. A great tribute to all involved.
All have been deeply saddened by the tragic news of death by accident of PP Jeffrey PHF Rotary Club of Traralgon. Richard was a fine Rotarian of long standing, known by many across the District for his participation in the Ride to conference. Richard will be greatly missed by Rotarian and community friends alike.
Vale Rotary Club of Mirboo North:
The Rotary Club of Mirboo North whose numbers had steadily declined in recent times and would have been less than half a dozen at years end have taken the decision to voluntarily resign the Clubs charter. Should there be in the future a significant resurgence of interest or should another Club wish to pursue the options of an extension or a satellite in the Mirboo North area under the rules of RI such an option would be simple to achieve.
I was very pleased to participate in the official Celebration of the amalgamation of the Rotary Clubs of Dandenong and Dandenong South East as the Rotary Club of Greater Dandenong.
A great night of celebration, reflection and enthusiasm for a bright and successful future for the Club. The night was shared and supported by past and current members, many local dignitaries and members of surrounding Rotary Clubs.
I would urge all Rotarians to consider attending the District changeover to be held at Premiere Function Centre Traralgon on Sunday 17th June where we will perform the official welcome of DGE Janne to the leadership of the District for the 2018/19 Rotary year taking over the reins on 1st July.
Along with the other incumbent Victorian District Governors I shall be attending the RI Convention in Toronto in support of our Australian and Victorian Rotary International President Ian Riseley.
At the present time it appears we will have 20 individuals attending from D9820

Kind Regards in Rotary
Don
