The District 9820 Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA) will return to the Phillip Island Adventure Resort in 2018 on the weekend of Friday, Saturday and Sunday 18-20 May.
Traralgon Rotarian and former Assistant Governor John Caruana is the District Chair of the long running community effort which brings young people together to debate issues of world importance and, hopefully, arrive at workable solutions.
Writes John: ``MUNA is a great project which enriches your club’s involvement with local schools, builds international understanding and gives students the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the workings of the United Nations Assembly and the countries they represent.

''At the 2010 R I Council on Legislation Youth Service was adopted as the Fifth Avenue of Service. Youth development is our Rotary future and this recognizes the positive change implemented by youth and young adults involved in leadership development activities. MUNA is an investment in our youth.
''The cost of participation is $750.00 per delegation (2 students). This covers the total cost of the event. All you will need to provide your team is transport to and from the venue and maybe assistance with the cost of their costume. We would encourage you to discuss your club’s involvement in MUNA at your next board meeting.

It would also assist us if you could advise us which secondary colleges your club intends to contact to avoid duplication. We are keen to involve our exchange students. They can act as advisors for teams representing their countries and might like to attend the MUNA weekend as part of the delegation (additional cost).
