We continue to work tirelessly with our fire survivors, despite the Covid restrictions and ‘on again/off again’ lockdowns. Rotary clubs from District 9820 and beyond have kept us in the forefront of their minds with donations continuing, a recent partnership with Hawthorn RC allowed us to donate a defibrillator to the small settlement of Combienbar [one had previously been donated to Club Terrace by Gippsland Lakes Complete Health]. The Lucas Mill project, initiated by EGRFA and community members of Sarsfield has now grown to take on a life of its own with an Incorporated Committee running the program. The re-vegetation program has been very successful, fruit trees along with Natives were gratefully accepted by landowners. The community planting programs were constantly challenged by lockdown restrictions however this was overcome by a partnership with the Landcare volunteers of East Gippsland, we are now on target to complete the program by November 2021.
EGRFA are pleased to announce that we have ‘ticked off’ all items on our strategic plan, developed 18 months ago, we have commenced our exit strategy as a committee. The work is by no means complete however as first responders our job is done; we will now step back and hand over to District 9820 Emergency Management committee and the East Gippsland Rotary Club Cluster in December 2021.
