A special cocktail party was held on Saturday April 28 to celebrate the Launch of the Rotary Club of Greater Dandenong.
The club was formed with the amalgamation of the Rotary clubs of Dandenong ( the third oldest club in District 9820 ) and the Rotary Club of Dandenong South East.
Both clubs had a tradition of serving Dandenong and it was decided with the blessing of the D.G. of the year Lyn Westland to form a bigger club that meant the new club is able to take on more projects.
A brief history of both clubs was told by a member of each club and future plans for the merged club discussed.
The Dandenong Club is one of a very few that had Paul Harris at the first meeting to discuss forming a Rotary Club.
A brief speech from both D.G. Don Ripper and D.G.E. Jan Spiers congratulated the new club.
There were a number of past Rotarians attended and a great night was had by all.
