There was a full house of nearly 100 for the special District 9820 fundraising night for Interplast held by the Rotary Club of Seaford Carrum Downs recently.
Among the many club attending was the Rotary Club of Narre Warren which reported in its newsletter that more than $20,000 has been raised by clubs in the District. Donations from clubs were matched on a one-for-one basis by a sponsor who wished to remain anonymous.

Guest speakers from Interplast, Keith Mutimer MBBS FRACS (Plast), President of the Interplast Board of Directors; Prue Ingram CEO of Interplast Australasia and Di Gillies, Rotary co-ordinator for Interplast all  talked about their programs. These programs have been delivered in countries including Papua New Guinea, Laos, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Samoa and Kiribati.
There have also been scholarships for medical personnel from Fiji and Indonesia to undertake training in Australia. Professional volunteer teams travel to these countries by invitation through Ministries of Health, local hospitals or universities.

We hope to bring you a full report in next month's bulletin.
