The 2020 Shoe Box Season is officially over.  Friday October 2 saw the completed boxes begin their journey to Nicaragua via Waterloo, IA then Texas before finally arriving in Chinandega.   We were able to send 695 boxes and 25 layette bags plus an assortment of handmade dresses and other items that are desperately needed.

Though the total this year was slightly lower than last, it is an exceptional number given how the coronavirus has disrupted our normal routines.  We are extremely grateful for the 24 clubs throughout the District that were able to participate this year and hope next year more can join in.

I would also like to mention our partners that help make this project possible.

Paul Ratcliff from V3 Transportation once again provided the truck and driver, at no charge, that took the boxes from Westlake to Waterloo.   V3 is a small family owned-and-operated company specializing in hauling Dry van freight, power only and based out of Seville, OH.

Cody Miller of RAM Sensors in Westlake provides us with a warehouse that allows the palleted boxes to be put on the truck via their loading dock.   RAM Sensors provides industrial customers throughout the world with high-quality temperature sensors.

Another Westlake company, SJT Enterprises, owned by Tim Smith provides our pallets and other shipping services that helps complete the project.  SJT Enterprises prides itself on the gift & novelty products they produce right here in the USA.

Finally, a thank you to Jack Young who continues to assist our club with the project that he started so many years ago!

Westlake Bay Village Rotary will be using the next two months to recuperate and begin planning for next year and then we will be right back at it.  Thanks again for making a difference in the world and putting Service Above Self.

Sincerely,
Kevin Krantz
