2nd Quarter Membership Report for District 5790
Membership is "driving the bus" in District 5790
Above is the 2nd Qtr Membership results for our District. We are at +37 members so we are making progress. But we have work to do. Relative to the other districts, we're in the "middle of the pack", for now. Our District's goal is to exceed a net gain of 150 members before June 30, 2015. This means that each club, as an average, must have at least a net gain or +2.3 member per club gain. Please remember that clubs must also do well in retaining their members if they are to achieve a net gain for the year. It all starts with a PLAN to recruit and retain members to achieve the goal. Does your board have such a plan?
WE MUST ALL WORK TOGETHER, TOWARD THIS COMMON PURPOSE, TO ACHIEVE OUR GOAL!!

This year’s Four Way Test Speech Contest is shaping up to be the biggest in the history of District 5790. Forty (40) clubs have committed to host a speech contest at their clubs and many have already scheduled their club contests. To those participating clubs I say a hearty “well done.” And to those clubs not holding a speech contest this year, I would be happy to help in any way possible to get you into this fun, exciting and valuable program next year.
Start the New Year with a blood donation to Carter BloodCare. January is National Blood Donor Month – a time to celebrate the everyday heroes who save lives through blood donation. Giving blood is the ultimate example of a random act of kindness. You do not know who will receive your lifesaving blood and the recipient does not know the name of the giver. It is a special kindness to help save a life.
The month of February is a very key time for a quick assessment of your club’s effectiveness and accomplishments. For current Club Presidents and their boards, there are only a few weeks left for meeting basic criteria for the 2014-15 Presidential Citation and for District Awards. The Rotary Club of Arlington and Arlington Sunset Rotary Club members are joining together to do something to help those unemployed in Arlington to get jobs. The answer to this situation was to start a job fair created by a joint partnership with Workforce Solutions, Arlington Answers.com, and the First United Methodist Church. The two Rotary Clubs arranged for Workforce Solutions to contact the employers and prospective employees. The First United Methodist Church provides the venue for the event, and Arlington Answers.com provides assistance with coordinating the job fair.
