"A Few People Can Make a BIG Impact"
The Hubbard Rotary Club was approached by a member of our community that had been to Kenya and worked first hand at a children's education center. She brought to our attention that there was no way for the teachers or staff to cook a hot meal for them or the children as the location was very remote and just recently received some electric service. After researching alternative cooking methods we found that Solar ovens, Parabolic Ovens to be exact, were extremely user friendly and would not cause a burden by bogging down the electrical service. We were able to partner with SolSource, a manufacturer of solar ovens who was able to line up shipping of one of their ovens to the Korando Educational Center in Kisumu Kenya. We are a smaller club with 18 members but are so happy to report the oven is working out wonderfully and is used daily to cook for nearly 80 people.
