PAST EVENTS KEEPING BROOKFIELD ROTARIANS BUSY

On October 4, 2016, we welcomed our DG Sieglinde Warren, along with her husband, PDG Larry Warren, for her official club visit.  On October 22, 2016, club members, along with Interact students and Cub Scouts, conducted their fall Highway Cleanup Day along SR 82.  On October 28, 2016, members represented the club at the Brookfield Township Safety Night, by holding a "free" raffle of a combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector, as well as distributing candy treats for all of the kids in attendance.

During November 2016, we were busy all month long, beginning on November 8, 2016, with a clothing drive from our members to benefit the Hartford Community Church.  On November 15, 2016, we hosted our ninth annual Veteran's Appreciation Luncheon and sincerely thanked those in attendance for their past service to our country.  On Tuesday, November 22, 2016, our club members again assisted with the Brookfield Township Outreach Association (BTOA) Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner.  We conducted the Food Drive a the entrance, as well as assisted the official greeters at the door.  The event served over 800 meals that day.  On Tuesday, November 29, 2016, we distributed dictionaries to our 3rd graders at Brookfield Elementary School, then we returned to PaPa Louie's to hold a brief Centennial Celebration of Rotary Foundation (to close out the month of November) by enjoying cookies, Foundation's 100th year, and we took a collection to benefit Foundation ( in lieu of an auction) and we graciously gave the Centennial bottle of wine to club member Elwood Walker, in recognition of his devoted current and past service to our club and Foundation.  He weekly sponsors a "Polio Plus" trivia question at our meetings, where he donates a dollar each correct answer.
