Insured U.S. Rotary Clubs and Districts:

Please share the following information with your fellow Rotarians:

The U.S. Rotary Club and District Liability Insurance Program (“Program”) provides U.S. Rotary Clubs and Districts with general liability (“GL”) and directors & officers/employment practices liability (“D&O/EPL”) insurance coverage.

The first $500,000 of every GL claim and first $25,000 of every D&O/EPL claim is funded by insurance assessments on the 1 July Semi-Annual Report that all U.S. Rotarians pay. There is incentive to make risk management and safety a priority for your club/district’s events and activities.

This website is the exclusive source for all of the Program’s documents*, forms, and loss control guidelines, including the 2012-13 certificate of insurance.

Certificates of Insurance

For assistance with certificates of insurance, including Additional Insured endorsements requests, please contact Lockton by phone at (800) 921-3172 or e-mail at rotary@lockton.com. For Additional Insured endorsement requests, please allow Lockton 10 business days and be prepared to provide Lockton with a copy of the written contract that clearly specifies the Additional Insured request.

Incident Reporting

Please immediately report all incidents and/or losses to RI Risk Management. Insurance coverage will be jeopardized if you voluntarily promise insurance coverage, make payments, or assume any financial obligation, other than providing first-aid, without the insurance company’s consent. The Incident Report form is on the Insurance Information Portal and can be submitted to RI Risk Management by email to  claims@rotary.org or by fax to (847) 556-2147.  An Incident Report is notice of an occurrence/loss that may or may not lead to a compensable claim.

Events with Attendance Exceeding 25,000

Rotary clubs and districts that organize events exceeding 25,000 attendees over the entire event period are required to purchase primary general/special events liability coverage with a

minimum limit of $1 million per occurrence/$2 million aggregate. The Program will only provide

excess coverage above this required policy. For details, please contact RI Risk Management.

FAQ – Common Insurance Concerns

The Insurance Information Portal now contains a document with responses to a range of common U.S. Rotary Club & District liability insurance concerns.  Please review to gain a better understanding of this insurance program.

2012-13 Insurance Assessment Rates

Assessments are allocated annually to all U.S. Rotary clubs through the 1 July Semi-Annual Report. General liability (GL) assessment rates are based on the frequency and severity of claims experienced in each state. Due to several large claims, GL rates increased for 2012-13; however, this increase was partially offset by a premium credit from prior policy years with lower losses. Directors & officers/employment practices liability (D&O/EPL) assessment rates are the same for all states.

The 2012-13 rates per dues-paying member are:

GL

D&O/EPL

CA/FL/ME/NJ/NY/OR/RI/WI

$5.50

Loss Control Guidelines

Visit the Insurance Information Portal for loss control guidelines to help ensure safe and successful events/activities. There is loss control guidance for many different events and

activities, and new guidelines are continuously being added to the site.  For example, review the new Financial Risk Management guidelines to help ensure effective management of your club/district’s funds.

Future Survey

During the 2012 -13 Rotary year, a survey will be sent to every U.S. Rotary club and district for D&O/EPL insurance underwriting purposes. The Treasurer should complete this survey, as it will ask about financial assets and annual revenue. The survey should take no longer than 5 minutes.
