August 2012 Message from District Governor Joe |

As of August 2nd, I have had the pleasure of visiting 21 clubs in our beloved District 7950. I would like to thank you for the hospitality shown to me and Geraldine. I am so grateful for the warm fellowship I have experienced as I have visited your clubs. As we have completed our first month of the Rotary Year, August is membership and extension month. We need to bring our friends into Rotary. They will thank you for the experience of Service Above Self. It has been a wonderful experience to meet so many of our new Rotarians and the energy they bring to our clubs. I look forward to meeting so many more District 7950 Rotarians and hearing about all their many accomplishments. Please stay in touch, forward your newsletters, information on your projects, local and international. I would like to wrap up by thanking our District Leadership Team, especially all the hardworking Assistant Governors. |

Congratulations to the Rotary Club of East Greenwich RI for Chartering our newest Rotaract Club at New England Institute of Technology, (NEIT). What a way to celebrate our New Generations Month. President Tanaka’s two main priorities are: Eradicate Polio and Grow Membership. We are making progress towards his Polio Goal. To date this year 104 new cases have been identified; Afghanistan 24, Pakistan 20, and Nigeria 60. One hundred and four is too many, but a far cry from the 350,000 cases in 1985. Every month is Membership Month. Let’s stay focused on growing our wonderful organization. It can be as easy as just asking your friends to a meeting or telling them about your Rotary moment and what it is that makes Rotary so close to your heart. Upcoming events: September 19th - Community Volunteer Recognition Night, Lombardo’s, Randolph, MA; October 6th - Rotary Day of Success: A one stop seminar, covering all major areas for a Club’s Success. Let’s make this the Best Rotary Year Ever, however please keep in mind “Tempus Fugit” time does fly.
