This is why we are Rotarians

To impact a family to the point where this mother (Linda Sullivan) took the initiative to find the Rotary Club of Fitchburg last week and attend a meeting (without an invitation /on her own) to say how thankful she was for the Rotary Club sponsoring the webcam that allowed her family, during the winter storms, and family illness that prohibited visits, to still stay connected and bond with her critical care infant.

President Sharon Bernard and Mom Linda Sullivan:

We are sure the UMass Memorial NICU doctors are more than willing to share their experience and its value to families. If a hospital has interest and your club members would like to support such a project we would be glad to provide what ever information you need.

Fundraising for camera sponsor donations was not that difficult. The majority came from Corporate & Individual camera donors. We actually have businesses in our District (many Banks) that offered to be testimonials and share how their donation had a positive impact on their customers and their employees. Example: Southbridge Savings Bank donated /sponsored a camera and posted the story and pictures on their company Facebook page. Normally when doing a community charity activity they get 2 or 3 "Likes" however when donating the NICU web camera they had 164 "Likes" in hours. An all time record for the bank. Customers and Employees posted stories of how great this was and how they wished they had such access when their family members were in the NICU. PS.. 2-Grandfathers showed up at the UMass Memorial NICU to greet their new baby and smiled when they saw the NICU web cameras. Turns out they were Rotarians that raised donations for those cameras. Sometimes Rotary good works even helps fellow Rotarians!
