HELP US FILL THE BOX FOR HURRICANE RELIEF!
Falmouth ME middle schoolers got serious about helping victims of the recent natural disasters in the Southern United States. A give-athon was decided by the Falmouth Middle School Community Service Club to support Shelter Box.   There were over 20 choices that teachers volunteered to offer. They were all called "a-thons", like yoga-a-thon, and teachers volunteered to staff the room or location where it was being held.  Kids signed up in advance for one activity and the teachers took attendance.  Kids went home with a pledge sheet to get "sponsored" for their activities and brought their money in the day of the event.
The events included:
four square
disc golf
yoga
coding
creative writing
cooking
dancing
basketball
board games
home run derby
meditating
coloring
reading
spelling
trail running

The middle schoolers raised $14,000!    The Falmouth High School Community Service Club has also agreed to support Shelter Box with some upcoming events this year, including a night of student led band concert at the school.   In addition, RYLA alumni from FHS help the Falmouth Rotary Club raise awareness of Shelter Box during the annual Falmouth Fall Classic, a soccer tourney involving over 2500 players in Southern Maine.  The club gave away bookmarks with Falmouth Rotary info and Shelter Box info plus students wore Shelter Box t-shirts.
