Happy New Year!

Here we go again with our new year's resolutions for self denial and self improvement.  Out with the Big Macs and in with the treadmills.  We are so enthusiastic knowing that this will be the year that we carry through with all our promises.  We know we can.  We know we will.  But then life takes over and we forget.

We tried - we really did try.  And there is always next year.

But as Rotarians, we have to keep moving forward.  We do not have the luxury of waiting until next year.  So what can we do?  Here are a couple resolutions which you could implement with little effort and considerable return.

Remember our primary goal is to increase our club membership rolls and create more Rotarians.  What if several clubs in a certain geographical area banded together, sharing costs, to place ads or news articles in the local media extolling the virtues of being a Rotarian and asked folks to attend a Rotary informational meet and greet event.  It would then be up to individual clubs to follow up with the interested parties.

Have you looked at the map of District 7910 lately?  There are many area towns with no Rotary clubs.  What are we doing to expand into those areas?  We could assign inter-club liaison chairs to organize cross club visits and inter-club meetings.  There is no better way to expand your Rotary horizons than to reach out and visit several other clubs, to observe what they do and to meet other Rotarians.  It does take some effort and a little planning but it can be done.  Or we can continue to stay in our comfortable home clubs oblivious to the world around us.  What will you resolve to do this year, right now, to increase your perspective and knowledge of Rotary?
