Hello Rotarians:

November is Foundation month, however, with the huge typhoon
that hit the Philippines and our own hurricane Sandy, I will be concentrating
on helping victims of disaster.

As you know, Rotary is not a first responder, but Rotarians were already
on the ground in the Philippines since September when the 7.1 earthquake
hit, helping those who lost everything. The typhoon that struck the country
is the worst to ever hit the Philippines. Since Rotarians are currently on location
it is felt that there is an immediate need for Shelter Boxes to help families in
need. We, therefore, have decided that we will give at least one Shelter Box to
a needy family and then decide what to do with the balance of the donations.
Hopefully, more donations will be received  so that we can help rebuild
villages in the Philippines and so ENGAGE ROTARY AND CHANGE LIVES.

There is still a need locally for Sandy victims, and the "Adopt a Home" program
is moving well in the Lindenhurst and Bayshore areas.

We all should be very thankful for having a roof over our head and food on the
table.

A happy Thanksgiving and Hanukkah to all.
