Pursuant to Rotary International By-Laws Article 13.020.6, it is my pleasure as current DG to report that the Nominating Committee performed six interviews on Saturday, December 6, and after deliberation recommends that James Damiani of the Rotary Club of Nanuet serve as our District Governor for Rotary Year 2017-2018.

Pursuant to Rotary International By-Laws Article 13.020.6, it is my pleasure to report that the Nominating Committee performed six interviews on Saturday, December 6, and after deliberation recommends that James Damiani of the Rotary Club of Nanuet serve as our District Governor for Rotary Year 2017-2018.

Jim joined Rotary in 1984 and served as President twice (1989-1990 and 2010-2011), establishing the Nanuet Rotary Scholarship Foundation during his first term. Jim has been secretary and treasurer of his club and served on the Board of Directors, becoming a Paul Harris Fellow in 2000. He has held a seat on the following club committees: PolioPlus, Recycled Rides, Gift of Life, Membership, the Nanuet Rotary Scholarship Foundation, was Program Committee co-chair for the 2012 District Conference and established ShelterBox fundraisers.

Jim served as Region 8’s Assistant Governor 2011-2013 and currently serves as Region 8’s Assistant Governor’s Assistant for Foundation. He recently completed Part III of the Rotary Leadership Institute.

A Rockland County resident, Jim attended Clarkstown High School and Villanova University. Professionally, he taught elementary school science and social studies, was a juvenile probation officer and youth substance abuse counselor, was a founding board member of Friends of Probation (the forerunner of Big Brothers/Big Sisters), served on the Rockland County Parks Commission and was president of the Rockland County Board of Realtors. Jim is currently a realtor at Rand Realty. He and his lovely wife Karen have two grown children and will soon be a grandfather for the first time.
