Interact – Together We Succeed!
From Desmond Jordan (Rotary Club of Oakville Trafalgar)

As well as working together to open a new Interact Club at Thomas Aquinas School, the four Oakville Rotary Clubs have formed a cluster team called the Youth Engagement Forum (YEF). Aside from exploring ways to strengthen our Interact and Rotaract Clubs they are also working together to explore the opportunity for another new Interact Club. This one is far from certain but these things can take time.

Through the Youth Engagement Forum they are also looking for ways to better support the existing Interact Clubs and their Rotary Mentors.

The three traditional Oakville clubs have already been combining their finances and human resources to more effectively manage the application, interview and selection of students eligible to receive scholarships and bursaries through their Education Awards program. This joint effort makes the process much more efficient and culminates in a high-quality presentation dinner at which they give $60,000 to 30 deserving Grade 12 students who need Rotary’s support as they seek to enter tertiary education.

The wonderful inter club collaboration of through the International clusters in Mississauga and the Milton Oakville and Burlington (MOB Cluster) is another great example of what we can achieve by leveraging our inter-club resources.

One Rotarian can often do a lot more than anyone might imagine and committed club of Rotarians can achieve a lot more as we all know. However, when we leverage our collective talents and resources even further by having multiple clubs work together we can do so much more.

The annual Rotary Online Auction is another great example of this leverage in action. RCOT started it about 10 years ago and since then five more district clubs have joined them. They see this as a plug and play fundraising opportunity that with a bit of focus and effort over a couple of months significantly adds to their annual fundraising capability.

Why not consider what your club could do in partnership with other Rotarians or Rotary Clubs in the District or beyond.
