Team Turkey 2018 - we need you!
Around 2011, Troy Rotary members, Mark Bucchi and Bob Waldron, began this program to reach into the Troy area for families who were deserving of a Thanksgiving turkey dinner.  In the following 5 years, the program grew to about 20-25 families.  In 2016, in addition to Troy Rotary’s usual sources for families, they reached out to some Oakland County agencies and raised the total number of to 30 families.

To Troy Rotary Club,
Thanks for your generous donation to Free Bikes 4 Kidz Detroit! I am happy to report we had a successful launch last Saturday collecting over 700 bikes.

The goal for years has been to grow this service opportunity, and in 2017 Troy Rotary reached out earlier in the year to their partner organizations to increase the amount of families, which they did!  In 2017, more than 130 families received this wonderful Thanksgiving meal!  Also, Troy Rotary reached out to the Birmingham Rotary Club to join together in this great project.  With Birmingham’s help, all meals were able to be delivered on Thanksgiving morning in less than 3 hours!
The goal for 2018 is to raise funds and deliver to 300 families in the Oakland and Macomb counties.  In order to do this, we’ve combined the efforts of multiple clubs and with amazing commitments from each. These clubs include the Rotary Clubs of Troy, Birmingham, West Bloomfield, and Sterling Heights.

The long term goal is to expand this program, with the assistance of our partner Kroger, throughout District 6380.  In order to do this, we need you!
Scaling this event means training - the best way to do this is for you to get involved, work the program with us and get the experience necessary to bring it back to your club so we can all work together.
We need volunteers to help deliver the meals and participate in making Thanksgiving dinner a reality for families who would otherwise go hungry.

Free Bikes 4 Kidz
To Troy Rotary Club,
Thanks for your generous donation to Free Bikes 4 Kidz Detroit! I am happy to report we had a successful launch last Saturday collecting over 700 bikes. We are still expecting maybe another 100 or so to come in over the next few weeks, so if you know of anyone who has a kids bike they want donate, send them our way. We also had a fantastic 1st week of volunteers coming in to clean, prep and fix bikes. We had over 200 FCA ( Fiat Chrysler Tech Center) employees come in all week and according to the many I spoke to, they all had a great time helping ‘fix a bike to give to a kid’.
I’ve attached a few pictures for your viewing pleasure. Since our warehouse is connected to Henry Ford’s Piquette Ave plant (where the Model T was first produced) we had one of their curators bring over an old car. Pretty neat.
Thanks again for your help and feel free to stop by the warehouse and get your hands dirty!!
