Not only is it great news that the cases of wild poliovirus are down to 11 year-to-date,  it is also important to note the cases of cVDPV have dropped from 803 in 2022 to 377 this year (to date). Type 2 polio, known as cVDPV, "circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus", is an unfortunate rare side effect of using the oral vaccine in which a vaccinated person can infect an unvaccinated person.
