Brockton Council Proclaims October 24 as World Polio Day
At the September 10, 2018 meeting, Brockton Council proclaimed Wednesday, October 24, 2018 as World Polio Day in the Municipality of Brockton in support of the Walkerton Rotary Club’s campaign to eradicate polio since its inception in 1984, by providing vaccines for children in those nations still not yet Polio free.
October 24 has been designated World Polio Day in recognition of the birth date of Dr. Jonas Salk, who discovered the vaccine for polio in 1955 and the goal of the EndPolioNow Campaign is to eradicate polio from the world.
