Dear Lion’s Head Rotary Club,

I am writing to express my thanks for you selecting me to be the recipient of the JC
Buckley Memorial Trust Award last June at my high school graduation.

I would like to give you an update on my first semester at Georgian College in Owen
Sound. I have passed my first semester and completed courses both in class learning
science, math and theory and hands on courses where I practiced shielded metal arc
welding and torch welding. I received my flat and horizontal shielded metal arc welding
tickets from the Canadian Welding Bureau.

My second semester will consist of more hands on welding learning. I will be learning
about FCAW [ Flux Core Arc Welding], GMAW [ Gas Metal Arc Welding, and GTAW
[Gas Tungsten Arc Welding. Along with an Entrepreneur Class and a English class.

I am looking forward to succeeding in my second semester at Georgian College where I
can build on my skills from first semester and graduate with a college certificate in
Welding Techniques.

I once again want to express my appreciation for the grant that will be put towards my
tuition.

With thanks,
Jacob Townson
