Congratulation goes to Louraiseal McDonald, Marshall Rotary Club who was chosen District 5830 Bill Rains Rotarian of the year for 2017-2018.

It is with great pleasure that IPDG Ted Huffhines was able to recognize the D5830 Bill Rains Rotarian of the Year for 2017-2018 at our recent District Conference in Longview. This year's recipient is Louraiseal McDonald, immediate Past President, of the Marshall Rotary Club. Louraiseal was instrumental in starting both an Interact and Rotaract Club this year.
She organized and started the first Interact Club at Marshall High School. The Interact club was very active and participated in both its own service projects as well as collaborating with the Marshall Club to pack and distribute dictionaries to all third graders in Harrison County. The Rotaract club at Wiley College was also a first. This club was also very engaged and involved over thirty Wiley students.

Louraiseal also helped organize a community service club mixer to promote Rotary, but also to provide opportunity for different organizations to develop opportunities for collaboration and prevent overlap of service to the community. Over 20 clubs joined together for this event. Under Louraiseal's leadership, the Marshall Rotary Club completed all the necessary goals to receive the Rotary Citation for the first time in well over a decade. The club also led D5830 in Per Capita giving to The Rotary Foundation, and was recognized as an EREY, Sustaining, and End Polio club. Louraiseal is the first African-American female to serve as club president in Marshall. She was an exceptional leader who helped strengthen her club, increased humanitarian service and successfully improved the public image of Rotary!
