The Marriott Courtyard at Allen Event Center was a center of service when it hosted the Rotary International District 5810 North Texas 2021 conference this past weekend. The City of Allen Mayor and charter member of the Rotary Club of Allen Sunrise, Ken Fulk, welcomed District 5810 Governor John Moser at a Friday luncheon to kick off this two-day event.
The conference included a project, whose sanitation theme was intended to provide comfort to those in need in the community and to express sincere appreciation of the sacrifices made by those who served in our Nation’s military.

In the days prior to the conference’s start, servant-hearted Rotarians from District 5810 clubs provided travel-sized items in short supply, as well as made monetary donations to purchase the same, answering Governor Moser’s eleventh-hour call for assistance. Contributions from more than 60 donors of supplies and/ or checks amassed the resources used in assembling hygiene kits earmarked for three groups in District 5810: Veterans, Families in need, and Personal use. Both Veteran and personal hygiene kits included travel-sized soap, shampoo, toothbrush/ toothpaste, shaving cream/razors and comfort items like socks and shower shoes. The Family hygiene kit-items, however, were full sized and included que-tips & hand sanitizers.

Each day saw 30 conference participants and 20 volunteers prior to and after lunch form multiple production lines, transforming hotel ballroom, C, into a center of service. Overall, the District assembled and provided over 1,750 kits: 1431 personal kits; 151 Veteran kits delivered to the VA Hospital in Dallas; and 175 Family kits provided to various food banks and pantries in District 5810.
