Recognizing Veterans Day and wanting to do something positive for our veterans, the Rotary Club of Park Citie organized a short-term, pop-up” service project.
President Happy Franklin sent out an email to come early or stay late for the September 10th meeting and to bring any kind of candy to implement Operation Cards and Candy.  Club members signed thirty Thank You cards for the Marines injured in the Afghanistan IED attack on Thursday, August 29 who are recuperating at Walter Reed National Military Hospital. Both the cards and the candy were sent by FedEx to Walter Reed immediately after the meeting. While President Happy did not know the exact poundage, she reported that it filled a BIG box. This is only the first of several service projects we will have for our military this year.

The picture shows members Ley Waggoner and Cindy Cummings, with President Happy, bringing both their candy for Walter Reed and peanut butter for the Food Bank.
