The Rotary Club of Melissa hosted an evening program for the Community to learn about Human Trafficking to grow our community awareness of the problem.
The Melissa ISD hosted the event in their board room. Our speaker was Natalie Pirrone of the Poiema Foundation. The Poiema Foundation educates schools, rotary clubs, and other community organizations about Human trafficking.
They also have a safe house for those rescued from trafficking. They have volunteers whom Educate the public about human trafficking that it is essential to ending modern-day slavery. Each month, multiple teams of trained volunteers distribute posters of missing minors known or suspected of being in the area to hotels, bus stations, first responders, and local businesses in high-risk locations throughout Dallas and the surrounding cities.
The club hosted a spaghetti dinner before the program to help visitors be welcomed and learn more about Rotary in Melissa.
