On November 17, 2020, the Garland Rotary club had a joint meeting with our sister club, the Rotary Club of Chennai Renaissance, India. Our guest speaker was Garland Rotarian, Dr. Grace Smart, DDS.
Grace was the first female member of the Garland club in 1989.

After spending 26 years in a successful private practice, Grace walked away from her practice and following her heart and faith to dedicate her talents to the non-profit world.  Grace has lead teams of volunteers on international mission trips to administer dental healthcare to those in need. She has visited over 20 countries serving with her ministry.

In 2018 she established The Grace Center Texas, a Garland-based dental facility to offer dental care to those lacking resources to seek care elsewhere.  We are excited for a future partnership with our sister club where we can travel to them to support their current mission of changing an entire village.  This trip would include a dental service team lead by Dr. Smart.

Raj Kumar, President of the Rotary Club of Chennai Renaissance and former resident of Dallas, has enthusiasm and vision that has been inspiring to the Garland Rotary.  Additionally, their members’ spouses have a very active Annettes group that provides service and fellowship.

May we all continue to bring the world closer together through friendship and Service above Self. For more information about Grace’s work, please visit https://gracecentertexas.org
