It is hard to believe that is is June, 2020. This Rotary year has certainly been different than any other, and yet, as I predicted, it has been Rotary’s finest hour. Your adaptation to a new way of meeting and keeping us engaged together exceeded expectations.
I am so proud of each club who found their own way to stay together, whether it was to meet on a virtual platform or implement that phone tree to check on each other. Your concern did not stop at Rotary Borders. Your outreach into your community has been unprecedented. The level of service projects has to be more than any other year, whether major, costly projects or small acts of kindness helping neighbors. It is truly heartwarming to be a part of this incredible Family of Rotary here in North Texas. Two rounds of DDF grants, Global Grants, Polio Plus donations, the Navajo project, and a Disaster Recovery Grant.... these enormous financial undertakings are all a tribute to your Spirit of Service. I cherish each of you and your contributions to our world.

We enter a new era; forced on us, yet we must embrace it. Technology has opened new vistas- no-cost social get togethers, re-engagement of members who haven’t met in a while, sharing of other District activities around our nation, joining our Foreign Grant neighbors in zoom meetings, listening to our senior leaders without having to travel to faraway places... we have found new ways to expand our Rotary experience. The future is truly unlimited as we relax our old boundaries. Congratulations... 2020, with its focus on VISION, has let us stumble into our future.. and it is LOOKING bright, innovative and exciting.

I want to thank all of our Club Presidents and District leaders who served well this year, and to Pam Blankenzee, who as our webmeister, keeps us all connected.  I give special thanks to my aide, Glen McCrary, who made my year as easy as someone else can make it!

Thanks for letting me serve as your leader. It has been an honor. You truly reflected how Rotary Connects the World.

Aloha.
