October is Economic and Community Development month for RI, and many 5810 Rotarians are hard at work on projects that are making a difference here at home and all over the world.. Fall is a great time for outdoor fundraisers, and many clubs use these high profile projects to raise money for so many of the charities in North Texas. After last year’s strong storms had many clubs having to cancel their traditional projects, this year features clear weather (albeit VERY HOT), as many successful events are held all over the District to support our communities’ local needs.
Please send in your people of action pictures and accompanying stories to Pam Blakenzee, our district webmaster, who will ensure it gets on the website and social media. Don’t forget to post on your own club web sites and social media pages.

October 24 is World Polio Day, and several activities are planned. This year’s contribution of the RI trustees, added to the matching 2-1 match from the Gates Foundation creates a $4 investment for every $1 contributed. As I have told every club I have visited; let’s take that up a notch - $25 =$100. Who wouldn’t give $25 this year to keep our promise to the children of the world and give them a polio free world? Lynne McNamee and her PI team created some fun opportunities for you to publicize World Polio Day, and Clubs such as Dallas and North Texas are holding Pints for Polio events! Let’s STOMP OUT POLIO together! I think we can raise the bar on raising funds for RI’s global signature project.

Keep on exactly what you are doing, and bringing in new members to share the Joy of Rotary that you experience.
