Happy Valentine’s Day, dear 5810... and Happy Birthday!
It’s already February, but what a great year you are having!  We are proud to declare Howard Templin as our District Governor Nominee Designate. He will serve the district in 2022-23 as Governor, and is currently serving as an Assistant Governor. We  look forward to working with Howard as he begins his training journey!
We charted our largest Interact club to date, that of the International  Leadership High School of Texas, located in North Garland. The sponsoring club is Richardson East, and that school promotes “ Others above Self” ( sound familiar?) and their international flavor comes not only from travel to foreign lands to study but also to have every student study English, Spanish and Chinese. The alignment of goals with Rotary seemed evident to the principal as a natural partnership, and the charter was presented at a school assembly. Congrats to Richardson East and welcome to this amazing school.

Our newest satellite club, Rotary Satellite of East Dallas of motivated millennials is off to a great start as well. Dallas East is the host club to this satellite, and this innovative club is posting flyers about interest in working in service clubs and networking. The night I visited, two “drop-in” visitors came by to check it out. Their location and meeting time is conducive to that age group and the future growth possibilities are exciting.

February is Conflict Resolution and Peacekeeping month for Rotary, and we have an important way to celebrate this. We know that hunger and poverty often lead to conflict, and we are partnering with Boy and Girl Scouts on their Food drive. Every club needs to get with their local scouting contact to get the bags. Remember, take more than 1 bag and share with co-workers. I know we can make the biggest food drive in all of North Texas History. Food banks and pantries are still low on supplies from the holidays, so please take part in this important service project.

Lastly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to US! Rotary turns 115 on February 23, and I think we look pretty good for our age. Since the United Nations 75th birthday will be celebrated in June at the International Convention, maybe each club can celebrate both Birthdays this month! Let’s keep our spirit of service going for another 115 years by recruiting a new member that can share the joy of Rotary. We still have lots to do!!

Go Make Today  Amazing!

Yours in Service, Beverly
