District 5580 has supported hundreds of Foundation-sponsored students, professionals and university teachers throughout the years, and many Foundation program Alumni reside in the District.  The Foundation Alumni Sub-committee is the District's source for reaching and keeping in contact with Foundation program Alumni and engaging them in what Rotary is doing today, as well as what Rotary is hoping to achieve tomorrow.

Who are the Foundation Alumni?
A Foundation Alumnus has at one time participated in a:

  • Group Study Exchange
  • Received an Ambassadorial Scholarship
  • Received a Grant for University Teacher
  • Received a Volunteer Service Grant
  • Been a Rotary Pease Scholar

Foundation Alumni are an excellent resource.  Alumni are also excellent candidates for Club membership!  Alumni feel a sense of obligation, have a profound and personal understanding of the impact Rotary has on people throughout the world, and typically, Alumni are dynamic individuals excited to share their experiences!  Through engaging Alumni, Rotary membership is augmented.  Foundation giving is energized, and club members are able to SEE and HEAR how their past Foundation support has changed lives and improved the world.  Furthermore, Foundation alumni are a great resource for recruiting new scholars or assisting in the selection of hosting of scholars, GSE Teams, etc.

Twice annually, Alumni are invited to gather and re-connect with each other and with Rotary.  Each summer, the Foundation Alumni Rowing Team paddles to ignominy at the Lake Bemidji Dragon Boat Festival, and every spring, Foundation Alumni are invited to attend both District and International Conferences.

An ALUMNI DATABASEhas been created in the form of a Website that will assist your club in locating D5580 Alumni that may be in your area.  For more information, visit http://www.bemidjirotary.org/5580-alumni/.
