Stories, updates & more

Exciting things are happening with our district’s Youth Services that are spreading throughout Arizona, and are beginning to draw the attention of other parts of the Rotary world.
Think about it:  Rotarians are significantly impacting the lives of more that 500,000 youth every year through our Rotary-sponsored youth programs, and we are developing some incredible young leaders.  So why, with this enormous base of youth participation, has Rotary been struggling with any kind of membership problems?
For 14 years, Arizona and Mexico Rotarians have alternated travel to each other’s districts for a very special time of building international goodwill and better friendships and  finding ways to support each other’s projects through matching grants.
The first USA Mexico Friendship Conference I ever attended was in Cuernavaca, Morelos. But that wasn’t my first trip to Cuernavaca. In fact, I lived there for a time and really learned to love Mexico while I was there. It was also where I learned to speak Spanish through an immersion program. So I am very excited about this year’s upcoming conference to be held again in the “City of Eternal Spring.”
We are now accepting applications for RYLA. High School Sophomores and Juniors are welcome as Delegates.  Perhaps you have a child or grandchild that would like to attend.  If they live in our District please direct them to our website -www.RYLA5490.org.
Maybe you would enjoy the greatest weekend of your life?  It takes 70 adult volunteers to put on our RYLA.  Think about it, but be careful, it will change your life.  No online RYLA attendance but you do apply at that same website.
It's a new Rotary year, and that means it's time to begin a new effort to have our members participate in Rotary's work by donating to the Annual Fund. Rotary's Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) program is designed to empower every Rotary Club member to be part of the humanitarian accomplishments of The Rotary Foundation. In Zone 26 for the year that ended June 30, only 44 of the 660 clubs earned banners for achieving 100% EREY. That's a whopping 6%!
Have you watched the "Membership:  It's Now or Never" webinar yet?
During our recent District Conference in Lake Havasu City, Rotary Public Image Coordinator PDG Larry Sundram spoke about Satellite Rotary Clubs.  Did you know your club could have additional club meetings held on different days, at different times, at different places in order to accommodate the schedules and desires of club members?  This is a great way to attract more community members to our clubs.  Here is everything you wanted to know about Satellite Rotary Clubs.
