Project Amigo Workweek 2022

Sixteen Boise Sunrise Rotarians traveled to Mexico in March for another enjoyable and productive work week supporting Project Amigo (PA), a Rotary led project to supporting eduction in the rural areas of Colima, Mexico.  PA has progressed over its 30 years to currently support over 300 students enrolled in local junior high schools, high schools and at the University of Colima.

In this session participants worked construction to build a new storage facility while others distributed clothing to the residents of the nearby migrant camp.  As always the shared experiences and camaraderie with fellow Rotarians while enjoying comfortable accommodations and wonderful food make PA work weeks a memorable and rewarding experience.

Work week participants can contribute in a number of ways including ESL instruction, teaching swimming, hosting a Christmas Fiesta for the local children or as a student while learning Spanish.  Side visits to coffee plantations, museums, and visits to local artisans provide a cultural experience in addition to the service provided.  See https://www.projectamigo.org for more information.
