Jam Tasting for Veterans
In conversation, Dr. Craig Nickisch mentioned to Shelley Goings (both of the Pocatello Rotary Club) that Craig and his wife, Marge, had been making fruit jams.  Shelley, Deputy Director of the Idaho State Veterans Home, decided that with a donation of several jars of jam, the Home could arrange a “Jam Tasting Event” for the residents.  So Craig and Marge brought two dozen jars of select home-made jams, and the Home baked special bread for the occasion.

The lineup of jams included peach, cherry, plum, apricot, raspberry, huckleberry, wild plum, and strawberry-rhubarb.  Many stories of childhood were shared as the tastes brought the veterans on a walk down memory lane.
