Eclub Gets New President - Michela Swarthout

The D5400 e-club has been up and running now for about a year but recently the club underwent a change in Leadership.  Michela Swarthout, former District 5400 Public Image Director, is the new president of the District 5400 eClub.  Michela comes to the table with a vast knowledge of Rotary leadership.  She is a Paul Harris Fellow, former District Officer, former Zone Officer, has attended many District and Zone training events, and is the innovator and force behind the very successful Stomp Out Polio Red Shoe Program.

The eClub currently has 8 members and is GROWING!  The club was originally started by Tammy Dittenber of Calwell who helped launch the virtual effort long before COVID19 made online meetings more common in the Rotary world.  The District 5400 eClub ONLY meets virtually using the zoom format.  Meetings are held every Friday at noon.  To visit a club meeting contact Michela at michelaswarthout@gmail.com or visit the club’s facebook page to learn more https://www.facebook.com/rotary5400eclub

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF ECLUBS.

Rotary eClubs are actual Rotary Clubs.  However they do have some advantages over traditional clubs.  eClubs can do service projects, listen to speakers, and play a vital role uniting people both across the globe and in the community, just like any club, but one advantage is that costs are very low because no meals are included in the dues.  More money can go to doing good in the world. For example, an entire family can join one club regardless of where they live. Generally it will cost less for a family to join an eClub than for one person joining a traditional club.  Travel time is cut because you don’t have to leave your home or office.  Also you can attend when you are on-the-go by joining a meeting using your smart phone.  If you are shut in its a great way to attend Rotary.  Its easier to hear and to see whats going on during club meetings.

The goals of the D5400 eClub are to support the Rotary Areas of Focus with particular emphasis on Early Childhood Education, Child Protection and Human Trafficking.

The D5400 eClub is always looking for good speakers and presenters.  If you would like to speak to the club or visit or join the D5400 eClub please contact Michela for more information.
