District Membership Chair , Jeff Reynolds

As Chair of the District Membership committee, and prime     contact for membership referrals provided by Rotary International, I am responsible for creating awareness across the district of the tools and techniques available to clubs related to membership attraction and retention.

Also, I will ensure awareness across clubs of the 2016-17 requirements for the presidential citation as related to membership:

Clubs must achieve 2 of the following goals:
  • Achieve a net gain in membership. Small clubs (up to 50 members) must achieve a net gain of at least one member; large clubs (51 or more members) must achieve a net gain of at least two members.
  • Improve the member retention rate by at least 1 percent from last year, or maintain 100 percent retention.
  • Induct new members under the age of 40. Clubs with up to 50 members must induct a minimum of two new members under age 40; clubs with 51 or more members must induct four. The new members must create profiles on My Rotary.
  1. A list of the current membership attraction materials and resources are found on the membership tab of the district website:   http://portal.clubrunner.ca/50012/SitePage/membership.
  2. The Membership Chair will also use direct contact with membership chairs and will continue to meet with individual clubs (I have already presented to Fort Saskatchewan, and am supporting Parkland after dark with club health diagnostics) as requested to provide ongoing support and assistance.  This fall’s district training session will also be a valuable opportunity to spread these membership messages.
  3. Related to ongoing assistance and support, I look to the expertise, advice and counsel of my fellow committee members.  Also, the Assistant Governors have a very important role to play in ensuring the clubs for which they are accountable are aware of membership requirements, supports, and the priority being placed on attraction and retention by both RI and District 5370.
