June 21, 2021, is the 25th anniversary of National Indigenous Peoples Day.  To celebrate and understand more about the heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples the District is pleased to announce a free learning opportunity for Rotarians.

In 2020, BMO partnered with First Nations University of Canada and Reconciliation Education to develop a new introductory eLearning course “Nisitohtamowin” Click for Link to promote equity, understanding and respect of Indigenous cultures and values in Canadian society. We are very grateful to BMO for offering this e-learning course free of charge to our entire District.

This course will be available to all Canadians until July 15, 2021, and can be accessed through the First Nations University of Canada website.

In the spirit of reconciliation and understanding, I encourage you and your family to access this learning opportunity.  If you or your club would like to learn and do more for Indigenous Peoples in our area, feel free to reach out to our newly formed District Indigenous Relations Committee Chairman, Cam Stewart, at cam.stewart@gov.ab.ca

Sincerely,

Steve Leavitt, District Governor Nominee
