Calgary Downtown Christmas Hamper committee are encouraging any Rotarians to reach out on an individual basis if they would be interested in adopting a family or two.
This year we are targeting 100 families with 75 of them recommended by school principals and 25 of them coming from our Stay In School program.
To cover the costs, the committee looks for cheques for $250 each to raise the $50,000 needed to cover 100 families.
(*Many who adopt a family go above the budgeted amounts out of their own pocket, which is perfectly fine, but not expected.)
When you get assigned a family, you will receive a list of the names of the family members, the kids" wish lists", and other details that the schools tend to send along. You will then go shopping, gift wrapping and delivering (which is the fun part!)
Please circulate to your members this year, and if interested I will put you in touch with the lead contact person to indicate your interest!
