Sometime take a drive on Brand Avenue between the 134 Freeway and Colorado Boulevard in Glendale, and you will see a sight repeat itself. It was not enough that the Rotary Club of Glendale Sunrise expose itself once. No, they had to repeat it over and over again. Once loses count of the number of street banners that have the name “Rotary Club of Glendale Sunrise” on them. And as if this were not enough, Governor Elsa has also gotten into the act. For every street banner that identifies the Glendale Sunrise Club, there is a banner with the name District Governor Elsa Gillham on it.

Is this PR? Indeed, it is. It tells everyone traveling on Brand Avenue that a Rotary club by the name of Glendale Sunrise exists here. And of course, we know the name of the District Governor, Elsa Gillham. At this point our job is half complete. Invariably, the question will arise, “What is Rotary?” More work remains for all of us. Quoting RI President-Nominee John F. Germ (2016-17), “No one should ever have to ask ‘What is Rotary?’” Thank you to the members of the Rotary Club of Glendale Sunrise for getting us off to a great start!
