District Picnic

This year our District will be hosting two District Picnics!  The first picnic will be a Picnic & Luau on on Sunday, September 14 from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm at the Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beach.  If you haven't attended one of these picnics, you are in for a great surprise.  Last year we had about 1,000 people in attendance and it gets larger every year.  The highlight of the event is the Cardboard Boat Race which is hysterically funny, but very competitive.  Does your club want to compete?  

We will also have a Chili Competition and even a Hula Competition!  The District 5280 Rotaract and Interact clubs plan and run games for all ages.  There is also swimming in the Seaside Lagoon and a great water slide. We have some seating, but urge everyone who has a beach chair to bring it along!

There is no charge for the picnic, but we hope every club in the district will provide food or will contribute funds to help pay for this event.  We already have generous donations of hot dogs, Korean BBQ and a Roasted Pig!  How can you help?

Attached is the picnic flyer, a registration form for your club and the cardboard boat rules and instructions. Please complete the form online and save it under your club name.  Then e-mail it to Wendy Clifford at 5280picnic@gmail.com and mail your payment to the District Office.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Canned Food Drive: Our District Interact Clubs will be hosting a Canned Food Drive at the Picnic. Bring canned goods to the District Picnic and you will receive a beautiful, plastic lei! Let's stamp out hunger!

The second District Picnic will take place during our district "Rotary Day" on March 21, 2015 at Griffith Park. The picnic will follow the "3-2-1 Race to End Polio."  Mark your calendars and you will receive more information later.
