"I joined Rotary on May 5 39 years ago, one of the most important dates in my life. I was 26 and the next youngest person was almost twice my age. I said to my wife at home that evening, "What in the world have I gotten myself into?" -- David Forward

Highlights of the presentation by David Forward, author of the official history of The Rotary Foundation on its 100th Anniversary, Doing Good in the World, with a behind-the-scenes view of Foundation leaders and of grass roots Rotarians out in the field. Author of 12 books, including A Century of Service: The Story of Rotary International, in 2005, David told stories about how Rotary’s battle against polio began and what motivated Rotarians to establish the Peace Centers. David joined Rotary at age 28 in the United Kingdom, in 1978, and is now a member of the Rotary Club of Medford Sunrise in New Jersey where he lives with his wife and son. He has served as club president, District 7500 Governor and PolioPlus chair and is recognized as a Rotary Foundation Major Donor and has received The Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service. A realtor, David represented New Jersey for three years on the White House Conference on Small Business.

Other than 2005 when Rotary celebrated its centenary, this year we are participating in the most amazing celebration that Rotary has ever had. The Rotary Foundation is something we hold dear to our hearts, not because of all the statistics related to the funds generated and dispersed, but because of the lives of people we have been able to change.
