6. More than 350 blood components are needed every day to keep up hospital supply.
7. The actual blood donation takes less than 10 minutes; the entire process takes about an hour.
8. The average adult male has 12 pints of blood and a woman has 10. We collect 1 pint of blood (unless the donor is giving double red cells) and your body starts regenerating it right away.
9. 1 out of every 7 people entering a hospital needs blood. We provide Rady Children’s Hospital more than 700  components of blood a month, that’s more than 8,500 blood components a year for just ONE hospital.
10. You can donate whole blood every 56 days and donors must be 17 years-old and weigh at least 114 pounds.
